It has been restored to portray the lifestyle of middle class mountain families from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. Hickory Ridge Homestead Museum
Located in Boone, North Carolina, Hickory Ridge Homestead is part of the Southern Appalachian Historical Association, producers of the third oldest outdoor drama, the Horn in the West. Hickory Ridge Homestead has eight log buildings on its grounds which date from 1785 to the early 1930s. All the buildings, with the exception of the smokehouse, came from different locations in Watauga County. The smokehouse was built on-site using 18th century tools.
